CARPENTRY/CONSTRUCTION TECH
This course covers construction techniques of residential and commercial construction. Students will be involved in multiple areas of construction throughout the course of the year as part of the curriculum. Students will gain valuable hands-on experience under the supervision of a qualified instructor including trade specific skills and employability skills that will transfer directly into the construction trades or higher education. Numerous opportunities are available every year and range from small individual shop projects to off campus building projects. Students are encouraged to participate in job shadows during their junior and senior year, as well as internships their senior year. Students have the opportunity to earn OSHA authorized 10- hour construction safety cards and other credentials through Career Connections.
This is a two-year course. Ideally, students take Carpentry/Construction Tech I their junior year and continue in CCT II their senior year. However, students are able to take CCT I their senior year.
Credentials Available: Career Connections level 1,2,3 and OSHA-authorized 10 hour construction safety.
