CTE Counseling Classroom
Counseling curriculum looks a little different in the CTE world than a traditional high school. Determining the best way to implement classroom visits and post-secondary planning sessions as well as providing resources to CTE students can be a little daunting. Join in the journey of the online counseling classroom. Google classroom was the platform used in the inaugural year of the CTE Counseling Classroom at ESACC. This online classroom was a resource to students and provided lessons and activities geared toward promoting a successful experience in their CTE programs and providing resources for college and career readiness.

Shattering the Stigma of Vo-Tech: Preparing students for careers AND college!
What is CTE and how does it differ from Vo-Tech? Career and Tech Ed is a successful marriage of career and technical training and rigorous academics. The infamous Vo-Tech isn't a bad thing, but it's got a bad rap. It's not right to stereotype, but it happens, and Vo-Tech's stereotypical student is the problem child who can't make it at high school, has no hope at college and gets dumped at "The Vo-Tech". With that stereotype in mind, anyone can see why it's important to make the move to a more accurate representation of what happens at Career Centers. CTE students get the best of both worlds: the academic piece and the college and career readiness piece.

Being a RESOURCE instead of a RECRUITER: Supporting Sending Schools
CTE counselors wear “hats” different from those of a traditional high school counselor. One of the most important is the relationship a CTE counselor has with sending school counselors. Rethink your recruitment role! How can you be a resource to counselors and the impact that movement has on your relationship with them? ESACC will discuss activities implemented to restructure the CTE counseling role.
