Animation and Media I (A&M) is looking for students who are interested in being digital creators and self-motivated problem solvers. A&M students play the role of entrepreneur and use the Adobe Creative Suite to solve real world problems as if they owned their own freelance company. Students will be taught the principles of graphic design, photography, videography, and animation and given the opportunity to apply these to real world problems that are brought in from the community to the classroom. A&M students are not only taught why multimedia works from a business and marketing standpoint, but they are also taught how to create with multimedia equipment and how to use the Adobe Creative Suite software. Students will become highly attractive to future employers as they will develop multifaceted skills across the following software programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Animate. Students will develop a dynamic demo reel that will showcase their skills in order to create potential college and/or career offers. Animation and Media I offers the opportunity to earn an Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) using a curriculum built by Adobe that is catered toward students passing the exam and receiving the highly coveted IRC.
Students who successfully complete Animation and Media their junior year have the option of enrolling in Animation and Media II their senior year. Animation and Media II builds on the entrepreneurial mindset of A&M I and offers opportunities scarce in traditional education: the opportunity to develop your professional portfolio with authentic, real-world projects in a variety of industries, and the ability to complete an internship in the multimedia career each student desires to work in. A&M II students are allowed to choose a specialization in one or more areas they are interested in including graphic design, photography, video production, and animation, and complete projects throughout the year in that specialization. A&M II students are challenged to build on their A&M I knowledge as to why multimedia works, but also taught advanced techniques of how to create with multimedia equipment and how to use the Adobe Creative Suite software. Students will work through the GMetrix curriculum, built by Adobe, to prepare prospective students to pass the Industry Recognized Credential exam to become an Adobe Certified Associate. Animation and Media II is the opportunity to know if the industry is right for you before investing your time and financial resources after high school.
